Q |
What is ~(the poetry) Worm~ ? |
A |
Worm is a poetry selection that is distributed free via email every month or so. |
Q |
Why is it called ~(the poetry) Worm~ ? |
A |
Because it propagates through people's address books. Only difference being that this benevolent little chap is forwarded manually, and from choice. |
Q |
Isn't that risky: viruses and so forth? |
A |
Not really. Worm is formatted as HTML we recommend you use up-to-date proprietary security. |
Q |
Well what about copyright? |
A |
All poets appearing in ~ (the poetry) Worm ~ have granted a limited copyright waiver for electronic replication [only] of that collection as a whole [only]. People who enjoy Worm are asked to forward it, intact, to others who like modern English language poetry |
Q |
Doesn't that mean people can steal my poems? |
A |
Yes. But photocopiers, scanners and OCR software mean that no text is safe from unscrupulous people anyway. |
Q |
Who can submit to Worm? |
A |
Everybody. Some, but not all, contributors are drawn from The Works mailgroup. To go to Works FAQs press HERE. |
Q |
How is material chosen? |
A |
Submissions are read by an editorial team of three. The poems are read 'blind' ie: contributor's names are removed. The editorial team is drawn from The Works mail group; its makeup changes for each issue of Worm. |

Q |
What is the house style? |
A |
There isn't one. To get an idea of the standard and range of poetry please read a few copies from the archive. |
Q |
There must be some limitation, surely? |
A |
Pornography, gratuitous violence, and incitement to racial or religious hatred go in the circular file (bin). Otherwise the only limitation is that imposed by the medium: HTML does not cope well with extremely complex formatting. |
